Smart Green Forum cum networking
Smart City Consortium (SCC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tus-Holdings Co., Ltd. (TUS) and China Digital Industry City Association to jointly develop a smart city innovation ecosystem.
Dr. Winnie Tang, Founder and Chairman of the SCC Steering Committee, signed the MoU with Mr. Ma Chi Kong, Executive Director of TUS, under the witness of Mr. Nicholas Yang, Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Dr. David Chung, Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology and Ir. Allen Yeung, Government Chief Information Officer, at the Hong Kong Computer & Communications Festival 2016 organized by the Chamber of Hong Kong Computer Industry.
The collaboration will enable the exchange and co-operation among the three parties that will accelerate the smart city development in Hong Kong and Mainland, as well as bring together the experts and enterprises in Hong Kong and the Mainland to participate in formulating smart city standard. Investment opportunities in various smart city development work will also be accelerated.
Since Hong Kong has a substantial pool of information technology talent, Dr. Tang hoped that the Government, industry, academia and research sectors could join forces to commercialize results of innovative research. This is to realize the huge potential in the development of innovation industry, and to make a greater contribution to the building of our smart city.
Mr. Ma Chi Kong of TUS has much experience in the development, construction, operation and management of the Tsinghua University Science Park (TusPark), as well as construction of over 130 innovation bases with a network covering more than 50 cities and regions in China, and more in the United States, Hong Kong, South Korea and Russia. He believed that signing of the MoU will strengthen the exchange between the two parties on smart city development and innovation ecosystem construction.
On the day of signing the MoU, SCC also organized a Green Forum cum Members Gathering. The Green Forum invited Ms. Christine Loh, Under Secretary for the Environment in Hong Kong, to give an opening speech, while Mr. Andy Chung, Chairman of SCC Green Committee served as moderator of the event. Ms. Suzanne Cheung, Chief Executive Officer of Friends of the Earth (HK), Ms. Rosana Wong, Chairman of SCC Smart Living Committee, and Mr. Andrew Lee, Executive Director of 21Vianet Group, Inc., also attended the Forum to discuss "How smart cities address the climate change and energy issues?".
