Indexing Standard and Deployment Guideline for IoT Property Technologies in Hong Kong

Vision & Mission

There are more than 20,000 building in Hong Kong (Commercial & Residential) but the security of the building can be further improved by installing the IoT devices. However, there is no technical standard nor best practice guideline of accessing those IoT devices, in order to ensure the security of the devices for not being hacked. Therefore, we are proposing to develop a standard for IoT Property Technologies based on their specifications, such as attributes, condition, applications, behaviours, healthiness, etc which fits the needs of Hong Kong. Furthermore, we will prepare a study with the objective, transparent, trustworthy IoT index on Property Technologies for reference by government, academia and industries as well as property management companies.

In view of the increasing applications of IoT technologies and applications in Hong Kong, there is a lack of guidelines, best practice, and standard regarding the IoT solutions selection. Given that there are wide variety of IoT solutions in the market with different performance, users may have difficulty in selecting the appropriate IoT solutions to meet their needs and requirements. The solutions refer to either of devices, networks, schemes, or systems.
