Wilson holds a Bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Hong Kong and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He started his engineering career as a Graduate Trainee of the Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd. in 1992. He is currently the Head of Technical Services of The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd (HK Electric), responsible for the reliable operation of the communication systems, power system protection, SCADA system, loss prevention and technical training of HK Electric for supporting the world-class electricity supply reliability.

Wilson is the Chairman of the Electronics Discipline and the Immediate Past Chairman of the Electronics Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is a Fellow Member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is also member of a number of technical committees including the Technology Voucher Programme Committee and the Expert Review Panel of the Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistic and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies.
