The 5th International Conference on Utility Management and Safety 2017
Organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Utility Specialists and International Institute of Utility Specialists with SCC being the co-organizers.
The theme this year was "BIM, Control & Utility Management for Smart City and The Sponge City" which focused on the comprehensive management of utilities and the utilization of utilities for smart city and the sponge city.
Mr. Eric Yeung, SCC's Convener was one of the keynote speakers for the conference.
Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a tool to manage information relating to asset creation and asset management in buildings with the use of new technology to facilitate project management and decision making support. Sponge City is an approach aiming to reduce the risk of flooding by capturing, controlling and yet reusing every raindrop in the urban areas after fatal floods to city dwellers as regular as the annual monsoon season. This is also one key element of Smart Cities - good utility service. With the help of high quality system control and asset management techniques, citizens could enjoy smart living with safe, good and secure utility service.
