Internet Economy Summit 2017-Thematic Forum: Smart City for Better Living

The Internet Economy Summit (IES) 2017 was held in mid April exploring directions and strategies for capturing opportunities offered by the Internet in propelling economic development. 
 
One of the thematic forums focusing on insights of Smart City was organized by SCC on 11th April. SCC's key members including Chair of Steering Committee Dr. Hon Elizabeth Quat, Convenor Mr. Eric Yeung, as well as Dr. Kim-fung Tsang, Chair of Internet of Things Committee, discussed and shared their experiences in the development of smart city in addressing city challenges for sustainability and better living as well as Hong Kong's future blueprint for the smart city development was also featured in the event at the forum. 
 
The audience was also briefed on technologies and applications in pushing forward the smart city development by experts including the Director General of the China Center for Urban Development and China Smart City Development Alliance, Mr Li Tie; the Chief Data Officer for the City of Los Angeles, Ms Lilian Coral; the Chairman of the Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis of the University College London, Professor Michael Batty; and the Convenor of Working Group ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 27/WG 1, Professor Edward Humphreys. 
 
The three-day Summit attracted some 4,500 participants. Over 60 information technology experts and industry leaders from Hong Kong, Mainland and overseas shared their insights at various forums under the Summit about the trend and opportunities brought about by the Internet economy.
