Organized by Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Kazakhstan is Central Asia's largest economy and the world's ninth largest country with an abundance of natural resources. It is a key player in the Belt and Road Initiative and is the critical gateway between the East and the West.  Recently, it was elected as a non-permanent member in the Security Council of the United Nations and also became a member of the World Trade Organization.

Hong Kong's economic ties with Kazakhstan are encouraging, with bilateral trade rising by some 19 per cent a year on average between 2011 and 2015.

To expand business and trade relations with Kazakhstan, Dr. Hon Elizabeth Quat and Dr. Winnie Tang, both Founder and Co-Chairman of SCC Steering Committee, joined the Financial Secretary Mr. John Tsang’s visit to Kazakhstan, Astana and Almaty, the capital of Kazakhstan with some 30 senior Hong Kong business people from a variety of sectors, including finance, logistics, infrastructure and real estate, telecommunications and technology, and legal services
