Delegation to Shenyang for the 3rd China Smart City (International) Innovation Conference

Organized by China Center for Urban Development (CCUD) and Smart City Development Alliance (SCDA) of China. 
 
The 3rd China Smart City (International) Innovation Conference cum 2016 Smart City and Big Data Development Expo held in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province, gathered more than one thousand participants, including governments officials, experts and scholars, as well as representatives from renowned enterprises.
 
The highlight of the three-day event was the main forum on international smart city development held on 12th November. Ms. Qiu Aijun, Deputy Director General of CCUD, Mr. Philipp Agathonos, Minister Plenipotentiary for Science and Technology of Austria, and experts from Hong Kong, England, Germany, Malaysia, India as well as international organizations attended the summit, and had a fruitful discussion. 
 
Ms. Qiu of CCUD cited examples of transportation, healthcare and government service to illustrate how smart city was gradually transforming the lives in China. She hoped that the forum could serve as a platform for ideas and knowledge exchange.
 
Mr. Jason Ngan, Chairman of SCC Smart Healthcare SIG, shared the current situation of Hong Kong's ageing population and rehabilitation. He suggested an adoption of smart healthcare solutions to develop into new business opportunities while addressing the social burden. 
 
In developing smart city, the councillor from Malaysia raised the concern of the sustainability while the expert from the UK stressed the importance of openness and citizen engagement. 
 
Mr. Agathonos of Austria concluded the summit with a comprehensive overview on the concept of smart city and the great international cooperation potential in this field. He presented the Austrian know-how and was interested in deepening collaboration with China.
 
About Smart City Development Alliance (SCDA)
In April this year, SCC signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SCDA to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations in the construction of Smart Cities in Hong Kong and China. The MoU also provides business opportunities for Hong Kong experts, scholars and enterprises to participate in the construction of Smart Cities in the Mainland.
