Mr. Patrick LAU graduated with an Honors degree in Social Sciences from the University of Hong Kong and joined the Hong Kong Government upon graduation. He was Deputy Secretary of the former Planning, Environment and Lands Bureau (the present Development Bureau) from 1997 to 2000, Deputy Head of the Central Policy Unit in 2001, and Director of Lands Department from 2002 to 2007. Mr. Lau was closely involved in development planning, urban renewal and land management matters.
Mr. Lau is now Advisor to the Hong Kong Ideas Centre, Director of the Hong Kong Countryside Foundation, Vice-President of the Hong Kong Professionals and Senior Executives Association, member of the Housing Society’s Special Committee on Elderly Housing, and member of the Urban Renewal Authority’s Land, Rehousing and Compensation Committee.
Mr. Lau contributes to a weekly column in the Hong Kong Economic Journal and is a regular guest on the DBC radio program on land and housing.
