Smart City Consortium signs cooperation agreement with Smart City Development Alliance in Jinan, Shandong

The second China Smart City (International) Innovation Conference (the "Conference") was held in Jinan, Shandong Province on 24-25 March, 2016. During the Conference, Smart City Consortium from Hong Kong signed a cooperation agreement with Smart City Development Alliance in Mainland China.

Mr. Eric Yeung, Convener of Smart City Consortium, led the Hong Kong delegation to attend the Conference. He delivered a keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony. He pointed out that Hong Kong cannot be building its own Smart City in isolation. Much synergy could be achieved by connecting with other countries in the world as well as with Mainland China. He said, "Today, Hong Kong is in a leading position in the areas of network communications applications and e-health. However, we need to strengthen the innovation industries and technological development in Hong Kong. It is good news that the Government has acknowledged and addressed the concern in the Policy Address this year."

Mr. Gary Lai, Assistant Government Chief Information Officer, Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, HKSAR, attended the Conference and witnessed the Signing Ceremony. The Conference had a total of 26 sessions. There were forums hosted by four government units in China - the Ministry of Public Security, the Standardization Administration of the People's Republic of China, the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation. They focused on discussing 11 important topics, including but not limited to Smart City development, smart business parks, smart city planning, smart health, smart energy and smart family. 

The Conference was full of smart elements, one of which was public demonstration of a face recognition attendance system for the first time. There were about 40 distinguished guests attended the Conference from EU, ASEAN, India, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong and other countries and regions.

第二屆中國智慧城市(國際)創新大會24-25日在山東省濟南市舉行。香港智慧城市聯盟在會上與中國智慧城市發展聯盟簽署合作協議。

香港智慧城市聯盟召集人楊全盛在開幕式上做了主旨發言，他指出，智慧城市不僅僅是香港本地的事情，也必須跟國際、內地相銜接才可以充分發揮香港的優勢。目前香港在網絡通信應用和電子健康方面處於領先地位。但香港的創新科技發展氛圍需要加強，值得高興的是，今年的特區政府在報告裡對此有非常直接的決策去解決問題。

香港特區資訊科技總監辦公室副總監黎健榮先生出席是次會議並見證簽約儀式，智慧城市聯盟組成代表團出席是次會議，並由聯盟召集人楊全盛擔任團長。本届大會共設立了26場活動，公安部、國家標準委、國家衛生計生委、國家測繪地理信息局四部委聯合有關單位在本次大會上分別舉辦論壇，重點圍繞智慧城市發展之路、智慧園區、智慧城市規劃、智慧醫療、智慧能源、智慧家庭等11個重要議題進行研討。會議將首次嘗試人臉識別智能簽到系統等，增強了會議的智慧化元素。歐盟、東盟、印度、日本、韓國、香港等國家及地區的近40位重要嘉賓參與此次大會。其中，英國駐華大使館、印度工業聯合會等均組團參會。
